Samsung Phone Repairs | Galaxy Screens, Batteries, Foldables and Liquid Damage

Mobile Repair Pro Shop handles Galaxy S, Note and A series phones, plus Z Fold and Z Flip foldables with cracked screens, AMOLED image retention, ageing batteries, charging faults, liquid damage or failure to turn on after a drop. We use quality-checked parts made to original specifications and test the under-display fingerprint sensor, camera focus and ambient light sensor after repair. Inspection is free, and work starts only after you approve the quote. Most screen and battery repairs are completed within 1 hour.

Common Samsung phone fault symptoms

  • Cracked or black screen, green lines or touch failure
  • AMOLED image retention (burn-in)
  • Rapid drain, unexpected shutdowns or battery swelling
  • Under-display fingerprint unlocking failure
  • Will not charge, charges slowly or has poor contact
  • Will not turn on after liquid exposure or a drop
  • Foldable inner-screen crease problems or hinge faults
  • Freezing, crashes or update failure

Quick answer: Common Samsung repairs include screens, batteries, charging ports and liquid damage. Most mid-range and high-end Samsung phones use AMOLED displays; once burn-in occurs, the whole display needs replacing. Most use under-display fingerprint sensors, so fingerprint unlocking must be tested after screen replacement. Check battery condition using Phone diagnostics in Samsung Members. Samsung advises against removing a foldable's main-screen protective film yourself; use an authorised service centre for replacement. Our shop is at Shop G81B, G/F, Sin Tat Plaza, Mong Kok (MTR Exit D2). Most Samsung screen and battery repairs take under 1 hour, with free inspection before a quote.

In-Depth Guide

Samsung repair guide: AMOLED, batteries, foldables, Knox and privacy

Last updated: October 2026

AMOLED image retention: why does it happen, and can it be fixed?

Most mid-range and high-end Samsung phones, such as Galaxy S and Note models, use AMOLED panels. Each pixel emits its own light, delivering excellent picture quality and contrast. However, prolonged static images, such as navigation bars, status bars or map icons, may age some organic LEDs prematurely, causing image retention or burn-in. This is a characteristic of AMOLED panels. Once established, it usually cannot be reversed by software or cleaning; replacing the display is the only effective solution. Lower brightness, automatic screen-off and avoiding prolonged static images can help delay burn-in.

Will screen replacement affect under-display fingerprints and the camera?

Most Samsung models use under-display fingerprint recognition, with the sensor beneath the panel. Screen replacement therefore requires careful handling of flex cables and the sensing layer to preserve sensitivity. Professional repair goes beyond appearances: fingerprint unlocking, camera focus and ambient light sensing should all be tested before returning the device. For iPhone screen replacement advice, see iPhone screen replacement.

Does your Samsung need a new battery? Check with Samsung Members

Samsung states that battery condition can be checked using Phone diagnostics in Samsung Members: open the app, tap Support, tap Start under Phone diagnostics, then select Battery status after the test. There are three results:

Battery status Samsung's official guidance Recommendation
NormalNo battery performance issueContinue using it; enable Battery protection to extend its life
WeakBattery efficiency may decline through long-term use or environmental factorsWatch runtime; consider replacement if shutdowns are frequent
BadBattery life has declined significantlyBattery replacement recommended

Samsung also states that similar checks are available on Galaxy devices with Android 12 or later under Settings → Device care → Diagnostics. Menu names vary by model and software version. If you receive a battery-check notification or the body deforms due to a swollen battery, stop using the phone and have it inspected promptly.

Extend Samsung battery life: three Battery protection modes

Samsung states that keeping a battery at 100% for long periods shortens its life. Galaxy devices with One UI 6.1 or later offer Battery protection with three modes:

  • Basic: Charging stops at 100% and resumes when the level falls to 95%.
  • Adaptive: Uses Maximum mode during sleep and switches to Basic before you wake, with timing estimated from usage habits.
  • Maximum: Charging stops at the selected limit. From One UI 7.0, limits of 80%, 85%, 90% or 95% are available.

Enable it under Settings → Battery → Battery protection. Models below One UI 6.1 offer only an 85% maximum charge limit. For iPhone battery replacement, see iPhone Battery Replacement.

What to know about Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip repairs

Foldable repairs are significantly more complex than conventional phones. Inner displays and hinges are specialised precision structures, and Z Fold and Z Flip generations differ in display specifications and hinge design. We confirm the model and generation before assessing feasibility and parts availability.

Pay particular attention to the main-screen protective film. Samsung states that the preinstalled film is designed for repeated folding and recommends not removing it. Replacement should be carried out by a Samsung authorised service centre and may be chargeable. Damage caused by removal by the user or an unauthorised provider is excluded from Samsung's standard limited warranty. If only the film is bubbling or lifting and the device is under warranty, check an authorised centre first.

Before repair, know: Samsung Knox has a security fuse that may be permanently triggered by unauthorised system or firmware changes, such as unlocking the bootloader or installing a custom operating system. Features relying on Knox, including Samsung Wallet and Secure Folder, are then disabled, even if the factory system is restored. Hardware-only repairs, such as screen or battery replacement, normally do not alter the system or firmware and do not usually trigger it. Still, confirm this with the technician before repair.

How should I protect my personal data before Samsung service?

Samsung Galaxy offers Maintenance mode. When enabled, personal photos, messages and accounts cannot be accessed, and only preinstalled apps can be used, allowing technicians to test the phone without accessing your data. It is available on Galaxy devices running Android 13 or later, depending on the model, and requires a screen lock. Samsung recommends backing up first. If the repair may require a reset, Samsung also recommends removing your Google Account before service to avoid Factory Reset Protection (FRP) blocking setup afterwards. See Software Troubleshooting and Data backup and recovery.

Does IP68 mean a Samsung phone is safe from liquid damage?

No. Samsung states that Galaxy IP68 testing generally uses fresh water up to 1.5 metres deep for up to 30 minutes in a laboratory. Avoid seawater, pool water, soapy water, oils, sunscreen and chemicals. Ratings vary by model and region; check the manual. Ageing, drops or opening can weaken protection. After liquid exposure, switch off, do not charge and seek repair promptly. See Phone liquid damage repair.

Official versus independent Samsung repairs: which suits you?

If your Samsung remains under warranty, has a manufacturing fault or needs its foldable protective film replaced, check with a Samsung authorised service centre first. An independent specialist may be more practical for expired warranties, accidental damage or urgent same-day collection.

What should I prepare before repair?

  • Back up your data: Back up with Samsung Cloud, your Google Account or a computer first.
  • Make sure you know your passcode: Your screen lock and Google Account password may be needed for tests or system work.
  • Consider maintenance or repair mode: Protect private information such as photos and messages.
  • Explain what happened: Whether it was dropped, got wet or was previously repaired.
  • Remove the case: Helps us inspect the body and screen edges. Do not peel off a foldable's inner-screen protective film yourself.

FAQ

Samsung phone repair FAQs

Most Samsung models use under-display fingerprint recognition, so the sensing layer and flex cables need careful handling during replacement. We test fingerprint unlocking, camera focus and ambient light sensing after repair and confirm they work before collection.

Most Samsung screen and battery repairs take under 1 hour. Liquid-damage recovery, logic board and foldable repairs take longer; the technician explains the expected time after inspection.

We use quality-checked parts made to original specifications, not poor-quality parts of unknown origin. The technician explains the part type before repair so you can make an informed choice. See Parts quality explained.

Burn-in results from AMOLED ageing and is a panel characteristic. Once established, it usually cannot be reversed through software; the display must be replaced. Lower brightness, automatic screen-off and avoiding prolonged static images can help delay it.

Samsung recommends checking battery status through Phone diagnostics in Samsung Members. Results are “Normal”, “Weak” or “Bad”. “Bad” means battery life has declined significantly. Rapid drain, sudden shutdowns or a bulging body also warrant prompt inspection.

Yes. Samsung states that One UI 6.1 or later offers Basic, Adaptive and Maximum Battery protection modes. Maximum stops charging at the limit. From One UI 7.0, you can choose 80%, 85%, 90% or 95%; versions before One UI 6.1 offer an 85% limit only. Enable it under Settings → Battery → Battery protection.

Yes; we inspect first to confirm feasibility and parts availability. Samsung explicitly advises against removing the preinstalled main-screen protective film yourself. Replacement should be handled by a Samsung authorised service centre. Damage caused by removal by the user or an unauthorised provider is not covered by Samsung's standard limited warranty.

Samsung Knox has a security fuse that may be permanently triggered by unauthorised system or firmware modifications, affecting Samsung Wallet, Secure Folder and other features. Hardware-only repairs, such as screen or battery replacement, normally do not change the system, but confirm this with the technician beforehand.

Samsung Galaxy offers Maintenance mode. It prevents access to photos, messages, accounts and other personal data and permits only preinstalled apps. Available on Galaxy devices with Android 13 or later, depending on the model, it requires a screen lock. Samsung recommends backing up before enabling it.

Yes. Samsung states that Galaxy IP68 testing generally uses fresh water up to 1.5 metres deep for up to 30 minutes in laboratory conditions. Avoid seawater, pool water, soapy water, oils and chemicals. Ratings vary by model and region. After liquid exposure, switch off, do not charge and seek repair promptly. See Phone liquid damage repair.

This is Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP). Samsung states that setup after a reset requires the previously used Google Account. If a repair may require resetting, Samsung recommends removing the account beforehand. We only help owners follow official procedures and do not bypass anti-theft locks.

Major repairs include a 1–3 month written warranty; the exact period is stated in the warranty document. If a component itself fails during the warranty period, excluding damage caused by the user, bring the document back for a free recheck or follow-up.
